2.2.6 Modified and reinforced polypropylene
The preparation method of modified and reinforced polypropylene is the same as that of glass fiber reinforced polypropylene, except that a certain proportion of modifiers and additives with special properties should be added during the production of glass fiber reinforced polypropylene. Due to the different properties of additives, the modified reinforced polypropylene can be divided into chemical modified reinforced polypropylene, self extinguishing reinforced polypropylene and flame retardant reinforced polypropylene. The abbreviation code of modified reinforced polypropylene is MRPP.
(1) Performance characteristics
Compared with ordinary reinforced polypropylene, the performance characteristics of modified reinforced polypropylene are as follows.
① Excellent mechanical strength, high modulus, can be applied under large load.
② It has strong adaptability to ambient temperature, and the product can be used within the temperature range of 40~150 ℃.
③ Good chemical stability.
④ It has excellent impact toughness.
⑤ In addition to excellent self extinguishing property, self extinguishing reinforced polypropylene has the characteristics of no corrosion to metal inserts or wires in products, stable self extinguishing flame retardancy, and strong adhesion to epoxy, silicone and other potting materials.
⑥ Flame retardant reinforced polypropylene is the modified variety of self extinguishing reinforced polypropylene, but its strength and flame retardancy are better than those of self extinguishing reinforced polypropylene; It has good heat resistance, and does not decompose when processed below 300 ℃; With good melt fluidity, large, medium and small thin-walled products can be formed.
⑦ The properties of self extinguishing reinforced polypropylene and flame retardant reinforced polypropylene are similar to those of general engineering plastics, and can be used as engineering plastics.
At present, Shanghai Rizhisheng New Technology Development Co., Ltd., Shandong Dawn Chemical Co., Ltd., Zhonglan Chenguang Chemical Research Institute and Shanghai Jieshijie Technology Development Co., Ltd. have produced modified reinforced polypropylene in China. See Table 2-54 for the properties of modified and reinforced polypropylene produced by China Blue Chenguang Chemical Research Institute.
(2) Forming method and application
Modified reinforced polypropylene can be molded by injection molding, extrusion and molding. Among them, injection molding products are widely used: when injection molding products, if the raw materials are wet, they can be dried in 80 ℃ hot air circulation oven for 4h. The injection process temperature is controlled at 200~270 ℃, the injection pressure is 8~10MPa, and the mold temperature is 60~80 ℃ (self extinguishing reinforced polypropylene injection process temperature is 175~190 ℃, the injection pressure is 6~10MPa, and the mold temperature is 25~50 ℃).
Injection molded products are used for flame-retardant products such as automobile lamp housing, automobile bumper, fan, washing machine accessories, pump housing, impeller, valve, etc., such as high and low voltage cable packs, safety cover shells, coil frames, flame-retardant conduits, various electrical sockets, etc. in the output of TV lines.

Injection molded products are used for flame-retardant products such as automobile lamp housing, automobile bumper, fan, washing machine accessories, pump housing, impeller, valve, etc., such as high and low voltage cable packs, safety cover shells, coil frames, flame-retardant conduits, various electrical sockets, etc. in the output of TV lines.
