Low foaming hollow blow molding
I. Overview
Low foam blow molding is a developing technology. 1992 SPE, (FlambeauCorp.) foam car dashboard. This is a hollow blow molding foam compounded by PVC and HDPE
Foam plastic parts. The part was structurally and technically successful, but was too expensive (compared to corresponding parts of other materials) to be produced commercially. Now more and more plastic parts manufacturing companies in European and American countries are interested in this technology, because Chinese blow molding foam has potential development advantages in the following aspects
①Because the foam occupies a certain space, the hollow blow-molded foam plastic parts reduce the amount of plastic by 25% to 30% compared with the corresponding pure plastic hollow blow-molded parts
②Compared with the same pure plastic hollow blow-molded parts, the foamed plastic hollow blow-molded parts have better rigidity
③The foamed plastic hollow blow molding parts are soft to the touch, making it safer to make toys, etc.
④Because the hollow blow molding foam uses an endothermic foaming agent, under the same wall thickness, the foam blow molding can save 10% of the processing cycle
⑤Because the microbubbles in the foam plastic can better reflect the light, which not only increases the color sense but also reduces the damage of ultraviolet rays to the parts. In addition, the microbubble structure imparts a pearlescent color. Combining these factors, the hollow blow-molded parts with micro-bubble structure can save about 25% of the color masterbatch consumption compared with pure plastic parts.
⑥ Like other foam plastics, hollow blow molding foam plastic parts have better thermal insulation, heat insulation and sound insulation properties.
However, blow molding of foamed plastics has not been widely promoted so far, and it is rarely commercialized. The reason:
①The foam is not easy to distribute evenly in the whole part.
② The cells are deformed during blow molding, and are generally elongated. When the part expands and hits the cavity wall, the cells close to the part wall are even squashed.
③ Plastic melt strength is not enough.
In response to the above problems, many companies are making various efforts to improve the cell control technology of hollow blow molding foam and reduce the cost of parts. Europe has made progress in this regard ahead of the United States, and has applied its air blow foam molding technology to automobiles and industries.
