Application of rigid polyurethane foam in roof insulation and waterproofing

       Rigid polyurethane foam has been used in cold storage and pipelines for many years. In the late 1950s, it was widely used in the insulation and waterproofing of buildings in foreign countries and achieved good thermal insulation and waterproof effects. The application of rigid polyurethane foam on the roof is mainly sprayed in Europe and the United States, and polyurethane foam sandwich panels are mainly used in Japan. In recent years, with the development of my country's polyurethane industry, the price of raw materials has dropped significantly, and the application of polyurethane rigid foam has become more and more extensive.
      Rigid polyurethane foam has a high closed cell rate, and on-site spraying construction can make the rigid polyurethane foam form a complete insulation and waterproof layer on the roof. It has the following advantages.
      ①High mechanical strength. The density of rigid polyurethane foam for roofing is 4555kg/m3, the compressive strength is 0.25MPa, and the bending strength is above 0.35MPa, which can meet the requirements of subsequent construction.
      ②Strong adhesion.
      ③②Long service life. Polyurethane materials have excellent acid resistance, alkali resistance, solvent resistance and oxidation resistance, but they have poor UV aging resistance. The waterproof life span of the covered and protected rigid polyurethane foam can reach more than 10-15 years.
     ④Convenient and fast construction.
      Construction process of high-quality polyurethane foam as thermal insulation and waterproof layer:

      ①Slope searching for roof; ②Cement mortar leveling; ③Polyurethane composite material preparation ①Spray foaming molding ⑤Fine stone concrete protective layer.

      Attention should be paid to keep the base layer clean and solid during construction, and water injection test should be done after construction. Although the cost of polyurethane foam is higher than that of polystyrene foam, it can also effectively reduce the cost in engineering applications with simple roof structure, and its construction period is short.
