Kuraray company is a company established by water-soluble resin polyvinyl alcohol. Therefore, it is very natural to develop modified polyvinyl alcohol. The biggest characteristic of polyvinyl alcohol is good gas resistance, but poor processability. Therefore, ethylene is used to improve the processability and moisture resistance of polyvinyl alcohol. The gas resistance of Eval is related to the content of ethylene in the molecule. With the increase of ethylene content, the gas resistance decreases, the moisture resistance increases and the formability increases. Eval is not obtained by copolymerization of ethylene and vinyl alcohol, but by hydrolysis of EVA. EVA resin was prepared by reaction of EVA with methanol and catalyst. 1. Basic characteristics
① Eval has excellent oxygen resistance, good transparency, non-toxic, and can be directly used in contact with food and drugs;
② It has good oil resistance and can be used to package edible oil and various oil-bearing foods. It can also be used for packing industrial oil products, such as diesel, gasoline and lubricating oil. It has excellent fragrance retention;
③ The tensile strength of Eval with high degree of saponification is twice that of PE   (4) good weather and UV resistance.
In high humidity air, the barrier property of Eval decreases. Therefore, Eval resin is often used as the intermediate layer of composites, which can give full play to the barrier property of eval.

Compared with PVDC, PVDC can be extruded, but the molding temperature is narrow, while Eval has a wide range of molding temperature, so its formability is greater than PVDC; The density is only 1.2g/cm3   It is much smaller than PVDC, so the packaging area or volume (yield) is larger;   PVDC is easy to be aged in the same environment, and chlorine in waste is not easy to be treated, which leads to environmental problems, while Eval is chlorine free and has little environmental problems;   Eval can be sandwiched in the middle of multi-layer plastics to maintain the low humidity environment of Eval, so as to obtain high barrier.
