1. Definition and requirements of mould inhibitor
Molds, bacteria and other microorganisms can make plastics (resins or additives, especially plasticizers, lubricants, etc.) deteriorate, including the change of composition and the fracture of chemical bonds, showing the change of color, smell or weight, the change of brittleness and electrical properties, and the decrease of exudation, tensile strength and elongation. The chemical additives used to prevent degradation and damage caused by microorganisms must be able to kill and inhibit the growth of microorganisms. 2. Varieties of fungicides
There are many kinds of fungicides, mainly including the following five types:
(1) Phenol, chlorojasminol and their derivatives have strong bactericidal power and low price.
(2) Organomercury compounds are highly toxic and have the strongest bactericidal power. They are commonly used as pesticides, plastic protectants and antimicrobials. (3) organotin compounds have strong bactericidal power and less toxicity, but they are still harmful to human body. Among them, rgsnx type is the most bactericidal. It is widely used in plastic products.

3. Protective agent
Additives used to prevent insects, birds, rodents and marine organisms from damaging plastics are called protectants. The protective agent should have suitable comprehensive properties, harmless to human body, no side effects on the protected materials, low cost, compatibility with plastics, resistance to molding temperature and durability.
Trimethylbenzene phosphate can prevent termites, and trinitrobenzene complex can effectively prevent the damage of Egyptian mice. Tetrathiuram disulfide and dimethylamino zinc cyclohexylamine complexes also have this effect, but the efficiency is poor.
