Types of inks for plastic packaging printing
There are various classification methods for inks, which are roughly divided into the following categories.
(1) Classification according to printing plates
The ink can be classified into an ink for gravure printing, an ink for letterpress printing, an ink for orifice printing, an ink for flexographic printing, and an oil for lithography. Various printing plates have different requirements for the fineness, consistency and viscosity of the ink. For example, the ink for gravure printing requires a fineness of 20 μm or less, and the viscosity at the time of use is a No. 3 Zahn cup of 19 to 23 s. The viscosity of screen printing inks can reach more than 100s.
(2) Classification according to the method of drying and solidifying film formation
This can be classified into an oxidative drying type ink, an osmotic drying type ink, a volatile drying type ink, a coagulation drying type ink, a crosslinked curing type ink, and an ultraviolet curing type ink.
(3) Classification according to the nature of the substrate to be printed
There are metal printing inks, plastic printing inks, paper printing inks, ceramics and glass printing inks.
(4) Classification according to the binder used in the ink
There are acrylate inks, thermosetting plastic inks, nitro inks, rubber and other elastic system inks, vinyl inks, nitro inks, and the like.
(5) An aqueous ink, an alcohol-soluble oil, an organic solvent ink, or a solvent-free ink is classified according to the solvent used in the ink.
In addition, in order to protect the environment and reduce pollution, solvent-free inks, high-solid inks, hot-melt inks, etc. should be developed and prioritized.
